Eco friendly Volunteers (ECO-V) of Sri Lanka was started as a result of winning a Rufford Small Grant from Whitley Laing Foundation UK, by Kanchana Weerakoon in 2001.
To be the most recognized voluntary environmental organization dedicated to empower people to take actions on sustainable living and biodiversity conservation to make Sri Lanka a better place for all living organisms.

Numbers Speak For Themselves
Eco friendly Volunteers (ECO-V) is registered at National NGO Secretariat under the Ministry of Social Services, Central Environmental Authority and the Divisional Secretariat of Dehiwala, Sri Lanka as a voluntary organization/Non-Governmental Organization working throughout Sri Lanka. Today ECO-V has over 1000 members and over 6000 followers in the social media. ECO-V is maintaining organically certified two urban gardens called Eco Garden and Metta Garden next to it’s office in Boralesgamuwa along with a plant nursery.
ECO-V is mainstreaming scientific research on fauna and flora, Climate change and conduct training on; Green Leadership, Conservation Education, Conscious Consumerism, Permaculture, Urban agriculture, Spirituality and Environment. ECO-V believes in bringing positive behavioral change among public for conservation of Mother Nature.
ECO-V had completed effective scientific research at Peak Wilderness Sanctuary, Natural Springs at Kebithigollawa, Spot-billed Pelicans, Purple Faced leaf langur, Bellanwila-Attidiya Bird Sanctuary.
ECO-V has successfully partnered with Journeys for Climate Justice, Australia, Edible Routes Foundation in India, and Global networks of Eco Temple and Inter Religious Climate and Ecology for further conservation related work.
